Project Facts

• Rebuild 123 miles of 115kV transmission lines in Oneida County.
• Nine substations would either be upgraded or newly constructed.
• The average asset age on this line is 100 years old. Five lines in this project were constructed in 1925.
• Project will create up to 1.4 GW of incremental headroom for the local transmission system.

• Rome-Oneida 115kV Transmission Rebuild Project

Local Benefits

• At least 1,200 jobs supported, including 475-575 direct jobs in construction and operations
• Up to $785 million in direct economic input during construction

Modeling suggests that this project would enhance generation resource potential in the Utica/Rome area with cascading benefits to areas north and west. 

Additionally, the Oneida County Transmission Upgrade would support manufacturing and semiconductor supply chain development at three NY FAST sites — Griffis Business and Technology Park (Rome), Marcy Nanocenter and Schuyler Business Park.
